I'm beginning weekend number two in the Chicago 'burbs, performing at the Zanies in St. Charles (last weekend I was perilously close to my hometown
while at the Zanies in Vernon Hills) and I was told that Friday night's crowd might be a little light. It seems that while I'm going to be playing the comedy club at the Pheasant Run Resort, Jeff Foxworthy will be performing in the 3,500-seat theater in the same complex.
Will there be enough comedy fans in DuPage county to support two shows? Will our shows be filled with people who couldn't get tickets for Foxworthy and settled for us? Will the weather warm above 18 degrees so I can take advantatge of the links
the resort has to offer or will the cold force me to sit in my room and be tempted by the minibar?
At any rate, it's been fun to be in the homeland. I had a blast headlining last weekend at Vernon Hills, especially since some of my high school classmates showed up and I had a chance to briefly catch up with some of them.
It can also feel like a family function at times. I actually got an "I haven't seen you since you were this tall," with a hand that came up to about mid-chest on me. Who knew I would have grown a foot and a half in 20 years?
I'm looking forward to a fun weekend though, and I'm going to do my best to sneak into the Foxworthy show. At $150 per ticket I dang sure can't afford to pay. Hmm. I wonder if that would make me a redneck?
Can we get a ruling on that?
